What this service covers

Born from a passion
for real impact

RetrofitScore was founded in 2017 with one goal: to make a measurable difference to the UK's carbon emissions — one home, one building, one community at a time.

"As the retrofit market grows so does the opportunity in blended areas of surveying, financial modelling and cost saving measures. We are eager to work with like-minded businesses in funding, installation, coordination, project management and testing."

Our story

How RetrofitScore became one of the UK's leading retrofit firms

RetrofitScore — trading as Yield Climate Ltd — was founded in 2017 by Jonathan Whittaker, a retrofit coordinator and former actuary with a background in applied finance and energy compliance. Jonathan started working in the ECO industry in 2014 on what was then the ECO1 scheme — the first iteration of what has since become the UK's largest government-backed retrofit programme.

Over the following years, RetrofitScore grew from a compliance and testing business into a full-spectrum retrofit consultancy — covering building compliance, PAS 2035 coordination and design, commercial decarbonisation, MCS renewable installations, and carbon funding. That breadth of capability — built on real delivery experience rather than consultancy theory — is what distinguishes us from most organisations in this space.

Today, RetrofitScore and its sister brand ViewPointEnergy represent the largest and most successful local authority consortium scheme in the UK — the Cosy Homes in Lancashire programme. Over the past four years, the programme has secured over £50 million in funding and delivered over 15,000 measures across 6,000 properties. RetrofitScore serves as Tier 1 contractor and principal coordination partner.

We're a team of over 40 people — project managers, retrofit coordinators, energy assessors, designers, carbon specialists, tenant engagement officers, and marketing professionals — based across two offices in Lancashire and Suffolk, delivering nationwide.

What We Stand For

Fabric-first, always

We never install a renewable system before insulation is confirmed. Fabric-first is how we design every scheme — and how we protect every resident's long-term bills.

Standards are non-negotiable

PAS 2035, PAS 2030, TrustMark, MCS. Every measure, every property, every time. We don't cut corners to hit volume — we hit volume without cutting corners.

Residents first

Behind every measure is a person. Our tenant engagement teams are trained to put the resident first — from initial survey to post-install handover and energy advice.

Our Accreditations

Certified, accredited, and registered across every discipline

Our accreditations span residential and commercial retrofit, renewables, energy assessment, and carbon markets — giving clients confidence that every element of delivery meets the relevant national standard.

TrustMark registered

Government-endorsed quality scheme — all measures lodged to TrustMark on completion as standard.

PAS 2035:2023

Full compliance across all roles — Retrofit Assessor, Designer, Coordinator, and Evaluator.
